Airborne Operation
Last Jump with the 82d - Pre-Jump (page 1)

Getting ready for JMPI.
It was about 95 degrees out. In the chute shed the temp. was 100. Talk about a hot one!

Taking a break after JMPI.
They changed our load time so we had to sit in the chute shed for about an hour and a half. The only cool thing with that was we only had a 15 minute flight.

Chalk 2 loading their aircraft.
We had a total of 3 chalks (3 aircraft). The jump was only combat light (weapons only, no equipment) because of the heat.

Chalk 1 loading the aircraft.
Have to love the C-141 (Starlifter). Preferred aircraft over the C-130 for standard combat jumps. Too bad I didn’t get a CH-47 (chopper blast) for my last jump.

Time to get on the bird.
Here I am, quite happy this is only a combat light jump. I only had a M-9 (9mm) so it was almost a hollywood (no equipment) jump for me.

Standing by for takeoff.
The Jumpmaster team is getting everything ready. One of the worst parts about this jump was we had to sit in the aircraft with the doors shut for about 20 minutes prior to takeoff. The bad thing about that is the air-conditioning isn’t running until we are off the ground. Can you say hot as hell!
